CPSS are people who are deaf, hard of hearing and/or deaf-blind and have been successful with the mental health recovery process; completed a training program; and passed an exam showing that they have the skills to work with peers who also have mental health challenges.
CPSS have “been there” as clients in treatment and have valuable experiences that help others who have similar struggles. CPSS meet with peers who are experiencing mental health challenges and provide support in many different ways. The CPSS will receive clinical supervision from a licensed mental health professional.

The CPSS Program is co-operated by MN DHHSD and Consumer Directions.
Consumer Direction serves as the Fiscal Support Entity and functions as a payroll agent, employer of record, purchaser of goods, and other administrative services. Consumer Directions manages the payroll of the CPSS and the Program Supervisor. The program supervisor is independently contracted by Consumer Directions to handle the CPSS Program daily operations, including providing clinical supervision to the CPSS group.
